Teaching Program

 


Teaching Professions l – consists of 2 classes
1. Education Principles
Students explore the history and theories of education to develop their own teaching philosophy while examining legal, ethical, and organizational issues in the field. The course emphasizes working with diverse learners, collaborative projects, and classroom presentations. Students will also create a professional teaching portfolio, which, along with an end-of-course exam, may qualify them for college credit.
1 Period / 1 Credit Course
Offered to 11 grade students

2. Classroom Management
Students will apply developmentally appropriate techniques to classroom environments, routines and rules, and positive discipline.

Teaching Professions ll – consists of 3 classes

1. Curriculum and Instruction 
Students design age-appropriate curriculum and lesson plans while exploring online instruction and learning management systems. The course emphasizes creating engaging learning activities and applying effective grading and assessment strategies to measure student progress.
1 Period / 1 Credit Course 
Offered to 12 grade students

Prerequisit: Teach Professions l
2. Educational Assessment
Students explore various assessment methods to measure and support learner growth. The course focuses on designing, administering, and analyzing assessments aligned with learning goals. Students use assessment data to evaluate effectiveness and improve curriculum and instructional practices.

Offered to 12 grade students

3. Educational and Training Capstone
Students apply their education and training knowledge through project- and problem-based learning in real-world settings. The course combines classroom instruction with supervised field experiences, including mentorships, internships, and cooperative education. Students gain valuable hands-on experience both in and outside of school and must provide their own transportation to assigned sites.

College Credit

The Teaching Professions course has received the CTAG endorsement from the Ohio Department of Education and Ohio Higher Ed.  If you score high enough on the portfolio and the End-of-Course Tests, you will receive credit for Education Principles at any state university—and it goes with you if you transfer to another state university.
