NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY EMBRACING STRONGER STANDARDS
The purpose of the National Honor Society is to honor students who show exemplary success in scholarship, leadership, service, and character. Juniors or seniors with a 4.00 or equivalent on the weighted scale or higher who have attended Hoover High School for at least one semester are eligible for membership. This grade-point average includes all academic grades earned beginning in ninth grade. A 4.00 grade-point average or higher does not guarantee membership.
Students must show evidence of contributions in leadership and service and exhibit good character. Each eligible student will be given an activity form to fill out that indicates interest in the organization. A committee of teachers who use the activity forms and input from the total staff determines membership. Once inducted into National Honor Society, members are expected to maintain the grade-point average, participate in all NHS service activities, and uphold the standards of the organization.
