· Arts and Communication Primer
This course introduces students to the Media Arts and Communications field, including film, TV, video editing, and visual effects. Students gain hands-on experience with storytelling, audio/video production, and design for both big screen and social media. Hoover’s modern TV production facility provides a professional environment for creating a variety of digital media projects.
1 Period / 1 Credit Course 
Offered to 9-11 grade students 


Video Productions ll  – consists of 2 classes

1. Video Production
This course teaches students video production for both commercial and noncommercial audiences. Students develop skills in script interpretation, equipment use, and integrating graphics and special effects. They gain experience in preproduction planning, recording, and post-production editing, and participate in broadcasting entertainment and sports programs on NCTV-11. This VPII courses require after-school participation.

2. Media Arts Primer
In this Media Arts course, students learn industry terminology, technology, and tools for producing media content. They gain experience managing content length, deadlines, and technical requirements while developing professional production skills.This VPII courses require after-school participation.

Video Productions lll  – consists of 3 classes
1. Motion Graphics
Students in this course create animated content from script to storyboard, using commercial and open-source software. They develop skills in integrating music, text, voice, photos, and video, producing projects for computers, mobile devices, game consoles, projectors, and broadcast TV. This VPIIl course requires after-school participation.

2. Digital Cinema 

This single-camera, film-style production course focuses on creative storytelling and advanced filmmaking techniques. Students learn lighting, audio recording, shooting, and editing using Avid Media Composer, producing short and long-form projects in a professional video environment. The course also explores careers in the film and video industries. This VPIIl course requires after-school participation.

Offered to 11-12 grade students 
Prerequisite: Video Productions ll
3. Arts and Communication Capstone

The capstone course allows students to apply skills from the Video Production program through project-based learning, both in and out of school. Students produce newscasts, documentaries, short films, music videos, and client projects, using Avid Media Composer, Photoshop, and After Effects. Independent work and professional maturity are expected at this level. This VPIIl course requires after-school participation.
